Merchants Overseas Celebrates Our 60th Year Anniversary!

Our History….

Eugene Wachtenheim, a WWII survivor who emigrated from Europe to join his family already residing in America, founded Merchants Overseas in 1951. Before leaving, he corresponded with his uncle living in Chicago about business opportunities in America.  Discovering that the war had caused a shortage of large-sized Aurora Borealis rhinestones in the United States, his uncle suggested that he purchase crystals to bring with him on his journey. And so, Eugene came to this country carrying two suitcases full of crystal rhinestones for sale. From that day on, Merchants Overseas has grown to become the largest U.S. distributor of SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS.

Six decades later, we remain the number-one distributor of the timeless beauty that is world renowned as Swarovski crystal. Identified by its radiant and rich characteristics, Swarovski crystals have proven even more alluring when supported by the integrity and reliability of Merchants Overseas.
